Even green cleaningʼs most notorious critics practice some form of enviro-friend-ly cleaning today. This month, industry expert Virginia Petru kicks off our CM/Spotlight: Sustainability with an entertaining look at “Flower Power.” In the section, weʼve also enlisted the help of top sustainability experts in the field for an in-depth look at the topic. We hope that you will find this informa-tion useful in your green cleaning journey. Moreover, CMM is continuing to offer a regular newsletter on sustainability throughout 2009. A common prevention strategy is effec-tive hand-washing. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) offers recommendations on its website in regards to effective hand-washing. CDC advises not only traditional soap-and-water techniques, but also the fre-quent use of alcohol-based hand cleaners to help fight the influenza virus. Often the case in high-traffic facilities, enforcing effective hand-washing can be a challenge.
