hard floor care case study Core Products Company Inc. Proper Planning, Products And Equipment Mean The World Core Products is formulating for our future™. in less time than traditional floor finishes. Even with the added stress of con-struction debris and re-routed traffic, the floor looked great. The Bottom Line: Results Darin says: “Core makes products that do exactly what they say they will do, from their spotters and carpet products to the floor finish and stripper or odor con-trol products such as the RIDʼZ Odor. I am impressed by the results, the safety and the ease of use of these products. The results simply amplify how right they are for my work.” CM Stripping and refinishing a floor can be a daunting task, especially when multiple layers of finish build up after high-speed burnishing. Planning ahead and using of the prop-er products and equipment will eliminate the most common problems, which include streaking and wax buildup around corners and baseboards. Mitch Darin, owner of Synergy Systems LLC of Highland Park, Illinois, says it is unrealistic to think that a floor that has accumulated wax through high-speed burnishing over the course of a year can easily be removed in one day. Darin has been in the JanSan busi-ness for more than 24 years and the last 13 have been spent at the helm of Synergy Systems. The Devil In The Details “You can begin to work around the parameter of the floor, removing cut boards and working in corners while the building occupants are still around,” says Darin. “Streaking and overlap in the fin-ish reveals the difference between a pro-fessional job and an amateurish one.” Darin recommends using a floor system of complementary products and, in partic-ular, Coreʼs Green Logic™ Low Odor Floor Stripper and Zinc-free Floor Finish. These products are certified by Green Seal ® and are used in hospitals, schools, nursing homes and office buildings as a safer alternative to traditional floor strip-pers and finishes. Darin says: “I look out for not only my customers who purchase products from me, but ultimately the end user. It is the person stripping the floor that needs a product that is easy, efficient and safer to use than the traditionally harsh chemicals that have been used in the past. Core makes great products; I canʼt say enough good things about the Green Seal-certified Green Logic™ Stripper and Finish, begin-ning with the fact that they are not only user friendly, but occupant friendly, too.” LaVonne Scott, purchasing manager for ADCO Cleaning Supply Inc. in Denver recommends the Green Logic™ Floor Finish for her upscale resort customers. “The application is easy, the finish dries quickly and there are no harsh fumes or odors so that people working in nearby areas were not disturbed,” says Scott. Paul Klemke, environmental services director for Christian Health Care in Lynden, Washington, was able to apply the finish in a high-traffic construction zone. He was impressed that the finish dried To Achieve Standout Results, Follow These Steps: 1. Use the right products in a floor system for the job — Green Logic™ Floor Finish and Floor Stripper are ideal. 2. Clean baseboards and corners thoroughly to remove old buildup. 3. Sweep or vacuum all debris. 4. Scrub and strip the old finish. 5. Use a microfiber dust mop to mop the area prior to applying the finish. 6. Follow manufacturer’s instructions and fill the bucket to the desired level — allow finish to drip off into the bucket and tap the mop to get rid of excess. 7. Start at the far corner of the room or the end of the hall and outline an area. 8. Use figure eight or “S” strokes to fill in the out-lined areas with the finish being no thicker than a piece of wax paper. 9. Working backward, allow each area to dry before beginning a new section, which also minimizes the risk of lines, ridges and streaking.
