S Shaler Area School District, located in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, con-sists of five primary buildings for kinder-garten through third grade, an elemen-tary school, a middle school and a senior high school. John Kaib, custodial foreman for the district, had been having some durability and floor stripping issues that resulted in wasted time and money. They really liked the wet cleaning pro-cess because it eliminated dust cleanup. Then, they applied Coliseum™ 350 oil-based wood floor coating, a formula compliant with volatile organic compound (VOC) regulations. Not only is it more durable than their pre-vious wood floor coating, but it is also more cost effective. Since using RipSaw, Kaib has saved on overall product costs because it is diluted properly and works in one appli-cation. “There is no better floor stripper on the market than RipSaw,” says Kaib. With Citation, the floors hold up much longer than other floor finishes they have used, allowing them to significantly extend their strip cycles. Previously, they had to strip floors every year because the floor finish they were using was not durable, which was costly.
