industry news ISSA Innovation Award Voting Still Open Voting for the 2013 ISSA Innovation Award Program is open until November 15, and 10 winning entries will be announced during ISSA/INTERCLEAN North America 2013, according to a press release. The award program lets distributors and end-users determine the most innovative products and services in the market by vot-ing at www.ISSA.com/vote, and this year’s program includes 44 product and service entries from different industry manufacturers and service providers. Study: Poor Hand Hygiene Could Stunt Children’s Growth A scientific review indicated that simply providing children with soap and clean water could actually help them grow taller, accord-ing to the European Cleaning Journal . The study, conducted by the Cochrane Review by the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and the char-ity WaterAid, found that “improving hand hygiene in a community could add an aver-age of half a centimeter to the height of children under five.” The study concluded that dirty water and poor hygiene can increase the risk of infection in a child’s gut, which is said to reduce the amount of nutrients that can be absorbed. “Providing clean water, sanitation and hygiene is an effective way to reduce the incidence and associated deaths from dis-eases such as diarrhea — which remains the third biggest killer of under-fives world-wide,” said Dr. Alan Dangour, lead author of the study. “For the first time our analysis suggests that better access to these services may also have a small but important impact on the growth of young children,” Dangour added. 2005, and February 2010. (Guardian) announced the passing of Harold Bressler, Chairman Emeritus, at the age of 91, of natural causes, according to a press release. In the rebuttal, Kendzior stated that the study “represents outdated, erroneous and very old information from a floor-finish mak-ers’ advocacy group.” “Although the CSPA claims this paper … is new, it is most certainly not new, or even accurate.
